I'm resurrecting this issue because similar threads on Apple forums are incorrect in saying that there is no way to install Chrome or other legacy apps on IOS 9 or older. I found this option in the Google forums: Google Groups Install iTunes on a computer and Sync iPad. (I used iTunes 12.6.3 with Windows 7 PC) Install Chrome (or other legacy apps [Drive, Docs, etc.]) via iTunes onto the iPad. Wait until Chrome finishes downloading, and unplug the iPad. Google Chrome will attempt to install but will hang on the iPad. Delete Chrome from the iPad. On the iPad, go into the App Store and re-install the app. You will now be prompted to install the last compatible version of the app. In my testing, I did not actually need to unplug the iPad mid-install. I simply attempted the installation via iTunes, which failed ("incompatible OS version"), then tried to install it again from the App Store on my iPad 4. This time, instead of getting a message regarding the OS being outdated, there was a "Cloud with Arrow" icon, and upon clicking it I received the following prompt:"Download an older version of this app? The current version requires iOS 10.0 or later, but you can download the last compatible version." The old version would then download, and it functions as well as it can, considering it's outdated. Honestly, I feel the fact that Apple made this workaround so arduous is sad - they're completely dropping options to legitimate old hardware just to force consumers to buy newer devices. I'm not asking for continued support, I'm just asking for this exact option, but fewer steps. At any rate, I hope this is helpful to anyone who has an older iPad/iPhone laying around, or who is on a budget and picks up an older device hoping to use it as a basic Google Apps machine. iPad Wi-Fi, iOS 9.3.5, null Posted on Oct 19, 2018 11:13 PMChange your Google Fi plan - iPhone iPad - Google Fi Wireless
Introduction If you want to connect your Android or iOS smartphone tablet and game consoles to your TV, there are several ways to go about it. This article will explain the ways of doing this and help you decide which option is best for your needs. How to wirelessly connect Android phones and tablets to your TV Chromecast Chromecast is a video streaming device that plugs into your TV's HDMI port. You can stream content from Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube and other services to the TV via Chromecast. Once you've installed the Google Home app on your Android device, all you have to do is tap the Cast button in any video app and select Cast Screen / Audio to start casting it. Miracast Miracast is another wireless display standard that works between devices using Wi-Fi Direct technology (the same way Wi-Fi Direct works for file transfers). To use Miracast with your Android device or tablet, make sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and then launch an app that supports this feature in one of them—for example: Netflix or Google Play Movies & TV on the mobile device side; Plex Media Server or VLC in computer mode. You'll be able to see everything playing on whichever screen has been selected as output (or both if desired). How to wirelessly connect iPhones and iPad devices to your TV You can also wirelessly connect your iPhone or iPad to your TV. To stop mirroring on your iOS or iPadOS device, visit Control Center, select Screen Mirroring, and then select Stop Mirroring or use your TV remote to select Menu. In addition to the various methods outlined above, if you own a TCL Smart TV, you have the advantage of utilizing integrated features like screen mirroring and Airplay that cater specifically to TCL users. 2025-04-17I'm resurrecting this issue because similar threads on Apple forums are incorrect in saying that there is no way to install Chrome or other legacy apps on IOS 9 or older. At any rate, I hope this is helpful to anyone who has an older iPad/iPhone laying around, or who is on a budget and picks up an older device hoping to use it as a basic Google Apps machine. iPad Wi-Fi, iOS 9.3.5, null Posted on Oct 19, 2018 11:13 PM
