October 21, 2020, 8:20am 1 Hi All,As a domain admin, i can run the ADUC when logged in to the DC.I have now had some new staff members start and have created some restrictive groups so they can perform specific tasks in AD, without having too much access.However, now i have created these, when one of the users logs in to the server and tries running ADUC, it asks for a username and pass. However using RSAT locally on their machines and running the snapin as the restricted admin account works ok.Im being asked to make it work so they can log in to the server and run it, as installing the local RSAT tools is not an option or will it work in this scenario due to the complexities of cross networks and no trust as well as other more political matters.In our parent company they have given some of my staff restricted admin access and they can run the console without being prompted for a username and password.We are using a mix of 2012 and 2008 servers.Any ideas? I would guess that their user account needs to be a member local admin on that server, or perhaps that user needs to be placed in the “Domain Admin group” or whatever group would give them the ability to run ADUC.I found this applicable: Thanks for the reply and ill check that link shortly, but just as a thought, if i add them to domain admins, would this override the restricted security group? Logging into a DC to do anything should be avoided. You should have a regular server that is for performing these actions. OK, so that link talks about delegation, which i have already done. The issue is that once logged in, the admin user is asked for a username and password for running the ADUC console, which never works. Hello.By default, read-only members don't have permission to view BitLocker recovery passwords. This is because BitLocker recovery information is sensitive data and generally requires higher permissions to access.
