Para fazer isso And collaboration over rigid processes. The Agile Manifesto, published in 2001, formally outlined the core values and principles that underpin Agile development. Here’s a breakdown of some core principles that underpin Agile development:Individuals and Interactions Over Processes and Tools: Agile values the human element of software development. Skilled, self-organizing teams working collaboratively are seen as key to success. Agile methodologies promote open communication, face-to-face interaction, and a shared understanding of project goals. While tools and processes can support Agile practices, they shouldn’t dictate how the team works.Working Software Over Comprehensive Documentation: While comprehensive documentation has its place, Agile prioritizes delivering functional software that can be tested, used, and iterated upon. This doesn’t eliminate documentation entirely, but emphasizes creating just-in-time documentation that reflects the current state of the software. A working product in the hands of users provides valuable feedback that can be incorporated into future iterations.Customer Collaboration Over Contract Negotiation: Traditional methodologies often involve lengthy upfront negotiations to define detailed requirements. Agile approaches encourage close collaboration with customers throughout the development process. This allows for continuous feedback and ensures the software aligns with evolving customer needs. Regular interactions with stakeholders help to prioritize features, identify potential roadblocks, and ensure the final product delivers the expected value.Responding to Change Over Following a Plan: While having a roadmap is important for any project, Agile development prioritizes the ability to adapt to changing requirements effectively. Market conditions can shift, customer needs can evolve, and new technologies may emerge. Agile methodologies allow teams to embrace change and incorporate new information or priorities as the project progresses. This adaptability is crucial for delivering software that remains relevant and valuable in a dynamic business environment. The Agile Manifesto and its ImportanceThe Agile Manifesto serves as a foundational document for Agile development. It’s not a rigid set of rules, but rather a guiding set of principles that emphasize the value of individuals, collaboration, working software, and responding to change. The significance of the Agile Manifesto lies in its recognition of the limitations of traditional methodologies and its call for a more flexible, people-centric approach to software development. Here’s why it holds such importance:A Call for Change: Published in 2001, the Agile Manifesto emerged as a response to the limitations of traditional, heavyweight methodologies. Software developers were frustrated by lengthy planning cycles, cumbersome documentation, and an inability to adapt to changing needs. The Manifesto challenged these practices and advocated forThe Black Pixel Manifesto. Founding
What Is Communism? Communism is a political and economic ideology that positions itself in opposition to liberal democracy and capitalism. It advocates instead for a classless system in which the means of production are owned communally and private property is nonexistent or severely curtailed. Key TakeawaysCommunism is an economic ideology that advocates for a classless society in which all property and wealth are communally owned instead of being owned by individuals.Visions of a society that may be considered communist appeared as long ago as the 4th Century BCE.Modern communist ideology began to develop during the French Revolution and its seminal tract, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels' "Communist Manifesto," was published in 1848.Communism was pitted against capitalism, which relies on democracy and the production of capital to form a society.Prominent examples of communism were the Soviet Union and China. The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 but China has drastically revised its economy to include some capitalism. Understanding Communism Communism is an umbrella term that encompasses a range of ideologies. The term's modern usage originated with Victor d'Hupay, an 18th-century French aristocrat who advocated living in "communes" in which all property would be shared and "all may benefit from everybody's work." The idea was hardly new, even at that time. The Bible's Book of Acts describes 1st-Century Christian communities holding property in common according to a system known as koinonia. This inspired later religious groups such as the 17th-century English "Diggers" to reject private ownership. The Communist Manifesto Modern communist ideology began to develop during the French Revolution and its seminal tract, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels' "Communist Manifesto," was published in 1848. That pamphlet rejected the Christian tenor of previous communist philosophies, laying out a materialist and scientific analysis of the history and future trajectory of human society. "The history of all hitherto existing society," Marx and Engels wrote, "is the history of class struggles." The Communist Manifesto presented the French Revolution as a major historical turning point when the "bourgeoisie," the merchant class that was in the process of consolidating control over the "means of production," overturned the feudal power. The “reverence for the natural world” – the Japanese architectural influence on New Brutalism and its realisation.View of Crosby’s extension of The Lacket showing the living room (left) and bedrooms (right)In Autumn 2020 Juliana Kei, Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Liverpool, was able to visit two overlooked house extensions that reflect the tenets of New Brutalism – one in Bayswater by Alison and Peter Smithson and the other The Lacket by Theo Crosby. What captured Juliana’s attention was that underpinning the two designs were their idea of New Brutalism. In Reyner Banham’s 1966 book New Brutalism: Ethic or Aesthetic, Juliana explains, he made reference to a one-page article published in the January 1955 issue of the Architectural Design, as the “manifesto” of New Brutalism. The article in question was written by Alison and Peter Smithson, and Theo Crosby, who was at the time the technical editor of the AD and a close friend of the Smithsons. In current studies of post-war British architecture, Crosby has been recognised as an effective behind-the-scene promoter for the Smithsons’ and the Independent Group’s (IG) works. In addition to using the AD as a conduit to disseminate the ideas of the IG milieu, Crosby is also credited as the organiser of the 1956 This is Tomorrow exhibition held at the Whitechapel Gallery in London. This article retrieves the 1955 New Brutalism “manifesto.” Juliana continues, I will also use two house extensions designed by Crosby and the Smithsons, for the same client, to examine their propositions in the manifesto. In the AD manifesto, Crosby and the Smithsons dedicated the introduction, and five out of the seven paragraphs on the importance of Japanese architectural influence on the Modern Movement and New Brutalism. They declared,‘Our belief that the New Brutalism is the only possible development for this moment from the Modern Movement…because fundamentally both movements have used their yardstick Japanese architecture – its underlying idea, principles, and spirit.’They went on to explain that, through Japanese architecture, New Brutalism found a “reverence for materials” and a close affinity with “peasant dwelling forms”, which resulted in an “architecture as the direct result of a way of life.” They even suggested that the Smithsons’ Hunstanton School “owes as much to the existence of Japanese Architecture as to Mies.”Hunstanton Secondary School, Alison and Peter Smithson RIBA CollectionsThe manifesto is puzzling. Traditional methods often struggled to keep pace with evolving market demands and customer needs. Agile principles encourage continuous iteration and a willingness to adapt plans based on new information or changing priorities.A Foundation for Agile Methodologies: While the Manifesto doesn’t prescribe specific practices, it serves as a foundation for various Agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, and Extreme Programming (XP). These methodologies provide concrete frameworks for implementing the core Agile values and principles.A Guiding Light for Successful Software Development: The Agile Manifesto has had a profound impact on the software development industry. By emphasizing collaboration, working software, and customer focus, it has helped teams deliver higher-quality software faster and with greater value to customers.Common Agile MethodologiesWhile Agile is a broad philosophy, several popular methodologies provide concrete frameworks for implementing its principles. Here’s a breakdown of some of the most widely used Agile approaches:Scrum: A time-boxed framework with short work cycles (sprints) typically lasting 1-4 weeks. Scrum teams focus on delivering a set of user stories within each sprint, through daily stand-up meetings, backlog refinement, and sprint planning sessions.Kanban: A visual workflow management system that utilizes Kanban boards to track work items. Unlike Scrum’s fixed sprints, Kanban focuses on continuous flow, emphasizing work-in-progress limits and continuous improvement.Extreme Programming (XP): Emphasizes close collaboration between developers and customers, with practices like pair programming, test-driven development, and continuous integration to ensure high-quality code.Lean Software Development: Borrows principles from Lean manufacturing, focusing on minimizing waste and maximizing value delivered to customers. Practices like just-in-time development and pull systems optimize the development process. When choosing an Agile methodology, teams should consider factors like project size, complexity, and team structure.Benefits of Agile Software Development in 2024Agile software development offers a multitude of benefits for both development teams and businesses.
