When finished, your Windows 8 Pro should be completely identical to how it was before, except it will no longer have Windows Media Center. Your old installation will have moved to a folder called Windows.old, so follow the tutorial below to remove it if you want to free up that space.Windows.old Folder - Delete in Windows 8 Related TutorialsHow to Add "Windows Media Center" to Windows 8 and 8.1How to Turn Windows Features On or Off in Windows 8 and 8.1How to Delete the "Windows.old" Folder in Windows 8 and 8.1How to Create or Download a Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 ISO Media_Center.png 13.9 KB · Views: 452 Last edited by a moderator: Jan 28, 2018 #3 Oh that looks much better. Cleaner, and a bit easier to follow. Thanks for tweaking it. #5 I updated the tutorial to link to the remove windows.old tutorial. #6 I upgraded two machines using two different emails (their both linked Hotmail accounts,) Yet MS still sent the same product key for both media center installs. The first machine is fine (one that I actually use media center, it's a htpc.) Although the second machine is looking for a product key, and is on a machine that I could care less if it really had media center or not (using is as a home server.) Therefore instead of dealing with MS I just want to uninstall the media center upgrade.I found this tutorial (thank you) and would like to use it, although the backup DVD that I ordered hasn't arrived yet. Would you happen to know where I could get a copy of the ISO image? The problem I have is that I mirrored two drives on the second machine and moved over almost an half a terabyte of data before deciding to grab the media center upgrade. That was a mistake, although if this works you'll save me the headache of starting all over. Thank you, #8 Thanks bud, you just saved me boat load of time. #11 I Download Hotmail Plus Reader for Media Center latest version for Windows free. 2025-04-04Gmail, the free email service from Google, lets you quickly and easily download email messages from your online account to your computer. This is done through an email program or email client and there are a whole lot of them available – check the list of email programs.Windows operating systems users would most certainly have a free email program such as Outlook Express, Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail preinstalled on their computers. For other operating systems, I recommend Thunderbird a great free program from Mozilla or even Apple’s Mail for Macs.Sponsored LinksAnyway, the steps to add and download Gmail emails from your online account to your computer are fairly simple requiring basic computer knowledge.Three email programs to download Gmail messages – Windows users have a choiceAs mentioned above, Windows users can choose from three free programs – Outlook Express, Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail. You can also use Outlook if you have the Microsoft Office package. I suggest the following:Windows XP: Outlook Express email program or Windows Live MailWindows Vista: Windows Mail, the default email client on that operating system or the new (and free) Windows Live Mailother Windows versions: Check the default email client you have or consult the Microsoft web site and download the free Windows Live Mail. For step by step detailed instructions and screenshots refer one of the following links depending on the email program you want to use.Add Gmail on Outlook ExpressAdd Gmail on Windows MailConfigure Gmail on Windows Live MailGmail offers free forwarding, POP and IMAP accessGmail is probably the third most popular webmail service – the leader being Yahoo! Mail followed by Hotmail (Windows Live Hotmail) – refer Gmail usage stats. Yes, I agree that Gmail’s interface is not as pretty as the new Yahoo! Mail or even Hotmail’s but the service offers much much more than the other two. In fact, it’s the free features on Gmail that have propelled it to the third place with a faster growing subscriber base. For example, email forwarding, POP and IMAP access which are only available in the paid options of Hotmail (Hotmail Plus) and Yahoo! Mail (Plus accounts) are a part of the free Gmail accounts – it’s the POP and IMAP access that let us download Gmail emails to our computers. FYI, free Hotmail POP access has been enabled for subscribers of some countries as of January 14, 2009.The different ways to download emails from your Gmail accountForwardingHave all emails coming to your Gmail account forwarded to another email address which has been configured in your favourite email program.POP accessConfigure the Gmail account itself in your favourite email program.IMAP accessGmail also offers Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) access which is another technology
